James Kenyon

February 12, 1954 — April 14, 2025

James A. Kenyon, 71, passed away early on the morning of April 14, 2025. He was the son of the late Raymond G, and Margaret (Butson) Kenyon of West Kingston, RI.

He attended South Kingstown High School and later served in the US Army’s 82nd Airborne division.

Jim was a hardworking, hands-on individual. He preferred working outdoors, thriving in jobs landscaping and installing turf throughout the northeast and found joy adding to his gardens at home. He had an immense affinity for animals and always had treats for the pets of family members as well as neighborhood dogs and cats. Nothing brought him greater satisfaction than filling an empty bird feeder. He fed the neighborhood woodchucks, squirrels, skunks, and any other critter that might happen along.

Jim’s kindness extended to anyone who needed it, and he always had a helping hand to lend. Jimmy was beloved by the children in his family who, regardless of how grown-up they are now, will always remember his devotion to them.

He is survived by his siblings, Judith Rodrigues, Matthew Kenyon (Patty), Margaret Tuoni, Raymond Kenyon Jr., Susan Dinonsie (Gary), and Daniel Kenyon (Karen), 16 nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces & nephews, and a myriad of cousins across generations who loved him dearly.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 4-5 pm in Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield RI. A funeral service will immediately follow at 5 pm in Avery Storti Funeral Home.
