James Robert Garey

James R. Garey, 89, of Narragansett, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at home. He was the husband of Joanne C. (Reposa) Garey for 39 years. Born in Burbank, CA, he was the son of the late Robert and Kathleen (Canning) Garey. James was in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years, obtaining the rank of Lt. Colonel. He then was an Aeronautical Engineer for the Raytheon Corp. before retiring. He loved flying, dancing, traveling, card playing and spending time with his family and friends. Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Dr. Michael Garey, Tamara, Scott, Traicy, Todd Garey, Pamela Hodges and Patricia Walters; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Daniel Garey. He is also survived by his step-children, Jeffrey Crocker, Michael Crocker, Patricia Gallagher and Jennifer Lozeau. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, October 4, 2021, 4-6 pm, followed by a funeral service at 6 pm in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial with Military Honors in the R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 10:00 am.
