James Henry Black

March 22, 1930 — December 24, 2023

James H. Black, 93, died peacefully on December 24, 2023. He was the son of William L. and Gertrude (Clavin) Black. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Farrell) Black for 57 years until her passing in 2017. He is survived by his sister, Sheila (Black) Zuhusky of Sanibel, Florida. His sisters, Mary (Black) Corr, Joan (Black) Dean, and brother William Black predeceased him.

Jim graduated from LaSalle Academy and attended RI College. He entered the U.S. Army for some time during the Korean War. He then worked many years at Southwestern Bell in North Andover, MA, before retiring to Narragansett, RI, with his wife Pat.


Jim was the beloved uncle of 19 nieces and nephews. He loved baseball, antique cars, and his home in Narragansett. He was a deeply devoted Catholic and a parishioner of St Mary Star of the Sea Church in Narragansett, RI.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:00 am at St Mary, Star of the Sea, 864 Point Judith Rd, Narragansett, RI, followed by a burial in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.


Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
