Jacques De Laporte, Sr.

Jacques de Laporte, Sr., 93, of Wakefield, passed away on February 25, 2017. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Munkittrick). Born in Paris, France, he was the son of the late Bernard and Nicole (Bellet) de Laporte. Jacques arrived in the USA from France in 1948. He then started a decorative textile firm Kay Dee Handprints which he sold in 1987. He was the past charter president of Chariho Rotary Club and was an active member of the Wakefield Rotary Club for many years until his death. He was also associated with Wash Trust Wealth Management Division and was on the Thundermist Board for many years. He is survived by his sons Jacques de Laporte, Jr. and wife Susan of Charlestown, RI, Marc de Laporte and wife Donna of Houston, TX; daughter Barbara Petit of Hope Valley, RI; Dave Petit and wife Donna of Westerly, RI, Joe Petit and wife Charlene of Hope Valley, RI, and Bob Petit and wife Sherri of Charlestown, RI; sister Francoise of Paris France, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 10:00 am in St. Mary Church, 437 Carolina Back Road (Route 112), Carolina. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 5-8pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield.
