Irene Lamontagne

April 17, 1945 — November 7, 2015

Irene Lamontagne, 70, of Narragansett, passed away Saturday, November 7th, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard E. Lamontagne, and they were married for 36 years. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late John and Ella (DeAngelus) Melon. She was raised in Cranston and graduated from Cranston High School and she attended Roger Williams College. She enjoyed travelling the world with her late husband, had a passion and love for all animals, enjoyed being with family and friends, and she will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and her contagious laugh. She is survived by a sister, Christine Curren of North Attleboro, MA; a brother, John Melone, Jr. of Cranston; 3 stepdaughters, Karen Dexter of East Providence, Joanne Jones of Barrington, and Donna Breting of Johnston; six grandchildren and one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Eleanor Ritota. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 20th at 10 am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Road, Narragansett. Burial will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Animal Rescue League, PO Box 458, Wakefield, RI 02880 or the Scleroderma Association, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 3015, Danvers, MA 01923.
