Iren K. Freeman

Iren K. Freeman (Enyedi), 87, of Peace Dale, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, after living a long and memorable life. She was the beloved wife of the late David H. Freeman. Born in Gyula, Hungary, she lived in Hungary thru World War II. Following the war, she studied theology at the Free University in Amsterdam, where she met her late husband. After coming to the United States in 1950 and gaining citizenship, she enjoyed being a mother, school teacher and social worker. She was a member of the Peace Dale Congregational Church. In her later years, she enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including gardening. She is survived by a son, John Freeman of Detroit, MI; two daughters, Renee Freeman Griffin and her life partner Richard Pronovost of Providence and Deanna Klann and her husband David of Jamestown; and five grandchildren including Jeremiah, Zechariah and his wife Julie Klann and Joshua Griffin and his wife Liz Harrington.. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at 11 AM in the Peace Dale Congregational Church, 261 Columbia Street, Peace Dale. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are Monday 4-7 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield.
