Howard Moorehead, 85, died Wednesday at home. He was the beloved husband of Esther (Marrier) Moorehead for 59 years. Born in Coventry, he was a son of the late Robert and Gladys (Weaver) Moorehead. Mr. Moorehead was a Master Plumber at the Quonset Naval Air Station for many years. He served in the US Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict and received the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained during World War II. Mr. Moorehead enjoyed doing the daily crossword and jumble puzzles in the newspaper and will be remembered as being a hard worker and loving his beloved Red Thunderbird. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Howard Moorehead, Jr. of Westbrook, CT and James Moorehead of Narragansett; a daughter Linda Benvenuti of Wakefield; and eight grandchildren. He was the father of the late Barbara Palumbo, and brother of the late Barbara Selhost. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM Monday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High Street, Wakefield. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Sunday 2-5 PM.
