Herbert B. Westcott

Herbert B. Westcott, 80, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Ethel “Bealy” (Briggs) Westcott. Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late Carl and Mildred (Rose) Westcott. Herb worked for the Pt. Judith Fisherman’s Co-op for thirty eight years before retiring in 1986. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Surfcasters Association and Hope Lodge #25. Herb enjoyed building clocks and built his own home. He is survived by his three daughters, Debra Westcott of Exeter, Tammy Loffredo and her husband Albert of Narragansett, and Carline Shields and her husband Randy of Wakefield; six grandchildren, Kenny and Amy Shields, Jeffrey, Christopher and Mackenzie Loffredo, and Timmy Westcott; and a great grandson Colton Shields. The funeral will be Thursday at a time to be announced in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Wednesday 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pt. Judith Fisherman’s Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 386, Narragansett, RI 02882.
