Herbert Ray Drake

June 8, 1918 — April 26, 2009

Herbert “Ray” Drake, 90, formerly of Richmond and Peace Dale, died April 26th in Lakeland, FL. He was the husband of the late Hazel Jean (Clemens) Drake. Born in Caribou, ME, he was a son of the late Herbert L. and Grace (Ward) Drake. Mr. Drake was an owner of the Drake & Bouchard Potato Farm in Richmond for over 30 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, served on the Richmond School Building Committee and was a Troop Leader for the Richmond, RI Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Mr. Drake served with the US Army Air Corp during WW II and he received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He is survived by a son, Warren Drake of Wyoming, RI, a daughter, Sharman Carney of Lakeland, FL, 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Raelyn Drake and brother of the late Elmer C. Drake, Edna P. Bouchard and Jeanette D. Carter. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday June 13th from 10 – 11 AM at the Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Frank Olean Center, 93 Airport Road, Westerly, RI 02891.
