Herbert H. Boden, Jr.

October 16, 1923 — February 15, 2011

Boden, Herbert H., Jr. 87, formerly of Conch Road, died Tuesday. He was the husband o f the late Carolyn (Strealdorf) Boden. Born in Cranston, he was a son of the late Herbert H., Sr. and Marie J. (Matheson) Boden. Mr. Boden operated and maintained office buildings for thirty four years and was a former Vice President and Buildings & Property Manager of Rhode Island Hospital Trust National Bank, Howard Realty, and Ryan Elliott Companies. He was former President of the Providence Owners & Builders Association, served as chairman of the Fox Point Hurricane Barrier Tax Committee; Vice President of Steere House, Providence Home for the Aged , a member of the Department of Labor Elevator Advisory Panel, the Downtown Providence Improvement Association, and was a volunteer for many years with South County Habitat for Humanity, and was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. He was registered with the Narragansett Council of the Boy Scouts of America for over fifty years as a Scout and a Scouter, serving on Cranston Troop 7 and District Committees, the Council Executive and Advisory Boards, and Eagle Boards of Review. He received the Silver Beaver award in 1972. He is survived by a son, Gary Boden and his wife Gayle of Exeter; a daughter, Carol Mania and her husband Philip of South Kingstown; three grandchildren, Jessica Jillett, J. Brett Eves and Katherine Boden. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 26th at 11 AM, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 383 Old North Road, Kingston.
