Henry J. Noon, 83, passed away on June 5th, 2012. He was a loving husband of Marjory (Hass) Noon for 58 years. He was the father of Karen Ferrandi and her husband Paul of Narragansett, Dr. Lynne Noon and her husband Dr. Robert Kanocz of Mesa, Arizona, Brian Noon and his wife Elizabeth of South Kingstown and James Noon and his wife Kathleen of South Kingstown. He was the grandfather of John, Stephen, and James Ferrandi, Brianne and Seth Noon, Lauren Kanocz and James Noon. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Henry F. Noon and Bertha E. (Mulvihill) Noon, a Titanic Survivor. He was the brother of the late Mary Capuano, Frances Petteruti, Ruth McCoy and Helen Noon. Mr. Noon was a graduate of LaSalle Academy, Providence College and attended Rhode Island School of Design. He was the plant manager of Crown Chemical before starting CNC International Corporation with partners. CNC was a manufacturer of textile and paper chemicals, and organic intermediates. Mr. Noon was the Chief Officer in charge of operations and manufacturing. Mr. Noon built main manufacturing plants in Providence and Woonsocket. He also built and operated subsidiary plants—Granby Chemicals in Cowansville, Quebec, CNC West in El Paso, Texas and the first plant of its kind, AVCO Chemical, in Beit Shemesh, Israel with offices and research laboratory in Tel Aviv. AVCO serviced products to Africa and the European countries. Mr. Noon and several founding members started the R.I. League of Salt Water Anglers strictly to have legislation protecting the migrating striped bass to have free passage to their spawning grounds in Chesapeake Bay and Hudson River. In the early sixties, as a chief lobbyist, he had the R.I. Legislative pass in to law a bill to stop all seining and fishing trap regulations to allow free passage of the bass in the fall migration. Mr. Noon was a member of the R.I. Federated Sportsman and Ducks Unlimited. He also was a representative of R.I. as a member of the U.S. Atlantic Marine Fisheries Commission. Mr. Noon was a member of the American Association of Textile Colorist and Chemists, The Society of Organic Chemists and Manufacturing Agents. He was also a charter member of the Providence College Mal Brown Club and the Friar Front Court Club. His funeral will be held on Monday, June 11th at 8:45 AM from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, RI with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Road, Charlestown, RI. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Route 3, West Greenwich, RI. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 10th from 4 to 7 pm.
