Helen M. Sisson

December 1, 1925 — November 29, 2024

Helen M. Sisson, 98, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, November 29, 2024. She was the wife of the late Frederick B. Sisson. Born in South Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late Myrtle Stedman.


Helen was known for her sense of humor. She had taught herself how to play the organ. Helen enjoyed baking, writing poems and bowling.


She is survived by her five children, Sandra A. Westmoreland, Linda Frazier, Donna Costanza, Frederick Sisson, Jr., and Lisa Sisson and her husband Thomas VanOrsouw, nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great grandchild, a sister Jane Allen, a brother Christopher Segar and many nieces and nephews.


A funeral home service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at 10:30 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St. Wakefield. Burial will follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours for Helen will be Tuesday 5 to 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 201 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
