Helen E. Mccarthy Pouncey

Helen E. (McCarthy) Pouncey, 85, of Narragansett, died Tuesday. She was the beloved wife of Winton W. Pouncey. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Timothy and Teresa (McMahon) McCarthy. Mrs. Pouncey was employed by the Providence Water Supply Board for 33 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association Ladies Auxiliary, a communicant of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, and was an avid golfer. Besides her husband, she is survived by a step-daughter, Mary Frances Iacobbo of Narragansett; two step-grandchildren, Antonia Stefano and Nicholas Iacobbo; a step-great-granddaughter, Sofia Grace Stefano; a niece, Michaela Clancy, and two nephews, Patrick and Stephen Clancy, all of Maryland. She was the sister of the late Frank, Kathleen, Alice, Mary and Regina McCarthy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Friday at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Road, Narragansett. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
