Hazel M. White

Hazel M. White, 87, of Wakefield, died Monday. She was the wife of the late Edward White and Gordon Meiklejohn. Born in Lincoln, she was the youngest of nine children of the late James and Jessie (Birchell) Wright. Mrs. White was the owner and proprietor of Fireside Antiques. She was an active member of the Peace Dale Congregational Church, and volunteered much of her time to various organizations in the South County area. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Scott and Deborah Meiklejohn of Warwick, and Mark and Denise Meiklejohn of Exeter; five grandchildren; stepchildren: Richard White of Englewood, FL, Edward “Ted” White DVM of Wakefield, Karen Walker of Wakefield, Patricia Aldrich of Wakefield, Marilyn Henderson of Wakefield, and Margaret Meehan of Narragansett. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 9-10 AM at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, followed by a memorial service at 10 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Curtis Corner Baptist Church, 591 Curtis Corner Road, Wakefield, RI 02879.
