Hazel (Rhodes) Powers, 96, of Marine Drive, Narragansett, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Powers Jr. Hazel was the mother of Tim Powers of Narragansett and Dennis Powers of Abescon, NJ. She is also survived by two granddaughters Stacey Ann Powers of CA and Amy Powers Cook and her husband Corbin of TX and many nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by her sister, Bernice M. Day, her brother George W. Rhodes and her granddaughter, Terese Ann Powers. Born in Cranston, a daughter of the late Mary E. and George Rhodes. Hazel was a resident of Cranston before moving to Narragansett in 1980, summering on Great Island since 1957. She was a private secretary after graduating from Edgewood Secretarial School and in 1942 was employed by the Navy Department at Quonset Point Naval Air Station and later at the Naval Air Station in Lake City, FL. She was active in the RI Parent Teachers Association, past president of the Eden Park P.T.A. and a Cub Scout den mother for six years and attended Curtis Corner Baptist Church. The funeral will be held Monday at 11:00 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Warwick.
