Harry G. Hajian

Harry G. Hajian, 89, of Narragansett, Professor Emeritus of CCRI, passed away Thursday. He was the beloved husband of Claire (Chaput) Hajian for 64 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Kevork and Margaret (Derderian) Hajian. He was a graduate of Classical High School and Providence College. He later earned a Masters degree in Chemistry. Professor Hajian was a chemistry teacher at the Community College of Rhode Island for over thirty years, serving as Department Chair for many of those years. He was a fellow with the National Science Foundation and authored two science text books. He will be remembered for his love of tennis enjoying every moment he was on the court. Besides his wife he is survived by four children, Harry Hajian, Jr. and his wife Nathell of Alabama, Howard Hajian of North Smithfield, Kristin Jacobs and her husband Michael of Coventry, and Seth Hajian and his wife Andrea of Cranston; four cherished grandchildren; a sister Ann Kibarian of Warwick; and a brother Geoffrey Hajian of North Attleboro, MA. He was the brother of the late Pearl Bargamian. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday at St Vartanantz Armenian Church, 402 Broadway, Providence. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, South Team, 143 Main Street, Wakefield, RI 02879.
