Harold Swanson

Harold Swanson, 85, of Wakefield, died Monday, July 18th. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Smith) Swanson for 58 years. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Emil and Gertrude (Larson) Swanson. Mr. Swanson was employed as a welder for Campanella & Cardi Construction Company, and then the Cardi Construction Company. He enlisted twice in the US Army during WW II. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and when he was younger he built his own stock cars. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Stephen Swanson of Exeter and Michael Swanson of Scituate; a daughter, Patricia Andersen of Wakefield; two sisters, Marion Ciunci of Florida and Virginia DiBiasa of Massachusetts; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Peter Swanson. A committal service with military honors will be held Thursday, July 21st, at 1 PM in the Columbarium Chapel, Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
