Harold H. Smith

Harold H. Smith, 90, of Charlestown, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018. Born in Warwick, he was the son of the late Herbert Smith, Hazel Ripka and step son of the late Stanley Ripka. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was the captain of the Karuna in Galilee for many years. Harold was a member of RI Party Charter Boat Association for 53 years. Block Island was his second home and favorite place to be. Harold was a very good man and loved by family and so many friends and was an animal lover. He is survived by his daughters Cindy, Nancy, and Maureen, son in laws Eric and John; grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Cassidy, Lea, and Savannah; two great-grandchildren Ellie and Emmy, three nieces, two nephews; and two step-sons, Brian and his wife Monica Kelly and their three children Laura, Aidan, Alice; Sean and his wife Laura Kelly and his two children Kevin and Alyssa. He was the brother of the late Edgar Smith and Doris Inman. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday October 4, 2018 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm with a service at 11:30 am in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St, Wakefield. There will be a private burial at a later date.
