Harold E. Gavitt, 87, of Glenrock Rd., Exeter, died Saturday. He was the husband of Vivian (Whitford) Gavitt. Born in South Kingstown, he was the son of the late John and Lillian (Muller) Gavitt. Mr. Gavitt was a W.W. II Army Air Corp Veteran. He worked as an oil truck driver for the Wakefield Branch Co. for forty-three years before retiring. Mr. Gavitt enjoyed hunting, sports and the Red Sox. He was the father of Sharon L. Wilbur, Peter L. Gavitt , Robin L. Gavitt and the late Harold Edward Gavitt Jr. and David R. Gavitt; brother of June Smith, the late John Gavitt Jr. and Carol Tourgee; grandfather of ten and great grandfather of eleven. The funeral will be held Friday at 11:00 AM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Thursday 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Church of the Ascension, Main St., Wakefield.
