Greg Macedo, a devoted husband, passionate music lover, culinary enthusiast, avid baseball fan, and talented musician, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024, at the age of 68.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Frank Macedo, Sr and Gertrude (Alix) Macedo. Greg's life was marked by his unwavering love for his wife, Kristina (Carocci) Macedo, with whom he shared a deep and abiding bond. Together, they created a life filled with joy, laughter, and the simple pleasures of good food, great music, and America's favorite pastime.
Greg's love for music was a guiding force throughout his life. After high school, he attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he honed his musical talents. Following his time at Berklee, Greg toured the country with his band, sharing his music with audiences far and wide. His experiences on the road fueled his passion for music and solidified his place in the music community.
After the tour, Greg returned to Rhode Island to attend the University of Rhode Island (URI), where he earned his bachelor's degree in English. While at URI, Greg continued to pursue his love of music by co-founding the band TOMCATS, which played all over Rhode Island and quickly gained a loyal following, becoming a cornerstone of the local music scene. In addition to performing, Greg wrote and produced his own albums, showcasing his creativity and dedication to his craft.
Greg's love for baseball was equally profound, and his favorite team, the Boston Red Sox, held a special place in his heart. He cherished the excitement of the game, whether watching from the stands at Fenway Park or catching a game on TV. Greg enjoyed discussing stats, players, and memorable games with fellow fans, and his passion for the Red Sox was contagious.
In addition to his musical accomplishments, Greg was a true food lover. He delighted in exploring new flavors, whether dining at a favorite restaurant or experimenting in the kitchen. Greg's culinary curiosity led him to seek out the best in both local and international cuisine, and he was always eager to share a meal with friends and family.
Greg's warmth, humor, and generosity extended beyond his immediate family. He cared deeply for his goddaughter Kasey, as well as his many nieces, nephews, and other family members. Greg's love and support touched the lives of all who knew him, and his dedication to his family was evident in everything he did.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Kristina, who was his partner in all things and the love of his life. Though Greg's presence is no longer with us, the memories of his laughter, his passion for the things he loved, and his dedication to those he cared for will live on in our hearts.
Besides his wife, he leaves behind his siblings Frank Macedo Jr, Patricia Labelle, and goddaughter Kasey Labelle. As well as his beloved cats, Yaz, Yogi, Mickey, Munson, and Peanut.
He is predeceased by his brother, Richard Macedo.
