Gregory S. Boyd

Gregory Scott Boyd, 62, died suddenly Friday, March 6, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Lee) Boyd, they were married for thirty-eight years. Born in Hartford, CT, he was the son of Amelia (Morris) Boyd of Windsor, CT and the late Frank J. Boyd. He retired as Director of Information Resources for the Naval War College in Newport in 2006 after thirty years of service. He was a graduate of Windsor High School, CT and attended Roger Williams University. He served his country on the USS Ranger CVA61 during the Vietnam War leaving the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. He was the current President of the Narragansett Bow Hunters Club, an instructor for the State of RI Hunter’s Safety and a former Vice Commodore of the Pt. Judith Yacht Club. He was an avid sportsman and fisherman. Besides his wife and mother he leaves behind 7 siblings, Kathleen Didier (D’Arcy), James Boyd (Dorothy), Robert Boyd (Margaret), Frank Boyd (Susan), Nancy Teed (Douglas), John Boyd, Barbara Boyd (John Brunjes); many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He had a love for his pets and also leaves behind, Schweitzer, Barney and Clyde. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Rd., Kingston, RI. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Monday 5-8 PM in the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
