Gladys L. Hoeflich

Gladys L. Hoeflich, 92, of Wakefield, died Wednesday. She was the beloved wife of the late Carl Hoeflich. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (McLaughlin) Litwin. Mrs. Hoeflich was an Elementary School Teacher in Center Reach, NY for 35 years. She served honorably in the US Navy during World War II as a Lieutenant and it was during the war where she met her late husband. After moving to RI, she volunteered her time at South County Hospital and the Wakefield School, helping students with their reading skills. She is survived by two daughters, Tricia Thayer and Carole Hoeflich, both of Wakefield; and four grandchildren, Luke Thayer, Sarah Thayer, Cindy Duckworth, and Marsha Thayer. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
