Gerard Mcdavitt, Sr.

December 13, 1928 — August 13, 2020

Gerard McDavitt, Sr. of Narragansett and Middletown, NJ, passed away on Thursday, August 13th, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 63 years of the late Dorothy L. McDavitt. Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of James F. and Helen C. (McGee) McDavitt. He attended St. Paul’s school and La Salle Academy, Providence. He graduated from Holy Cross College, Worcester, MA and was 1946 All New England Boys track winner. He was a retired Special Agent for the FBI and retired regional Vice President of Merrill Lynch. He leaves his children, Gerard Jr., Sharon, James, Mary Ellen, William, and Timothy. He was predeceased by his son Thomas. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren as well as his nieces and nephews, Donna Gunning, Margret Habel, Kathleen Jeffries, and Thomas Reilly III. The family wants to acknowledge the very kind and supportive care of Becky (VNS), Linda and Danielle of Hope Hospice. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 18th at 11am at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road Kingston, RI. A wake will precede the Mass at Christ the King Church at 10am. Burial will be private, with the family only. To view the livestream of the Mass please visit, www.ctkri.org. In lieu of flowers, contributions will be made to Christian Brothers Residence, 632 Ocean Road Narragansett, RI 02882. Social distancing and facial masks will be required.
