George W. Murray III, 77, of Exeter, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024. Born on June 30, 1946, in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the beloved son of the late George W. Murray, Jr. and Virginia M. (Vadis) Murray.
In his early years, George encountered a life-altering challenge that shaped the course of his journey. A tragic and unforeseen condition necessitated dedicated care from a team of compassionate professionals throughout his life. These caregivers not only provided support but also became a cherished part of George's extended family. Their commitment and affection played a significant role in his life, bringing joy and comfort to both George and those around him.
George is predeceased by his parents, George W. Murray, Jr. and Virginia Murray, and his sister, Patricia Benton. His memory is lovingly carried on by his siblings: Paul Murray of Chicago, Illinois; Susan Cross and Andrew Murray, both of Durango, Colorado, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The impact of George's life extends far beyond his immediate family. He deeply touched the hearts of his caregivers and all who knew him, leaving a legacy of enduring kindness and resilience. In honoring George's memory, we celebrate the profound connections he fostered and the lives he enriched.
A service to celebrate George's life will be held in Durango, Colorado, on January 17, 2024, under the care of Williams Funeral Home. Following the service, George will be laid to rest with his family in Durango, Colorado. The family invites those who were part of George's life to join in remembering a man whose spirit triumphed over adversity and whose presence brought light to many.
