George Grandolfi, 83, of Deborah St., Narragansett, died March 4th, at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Maryanne (Zannini) Grandolfi, they were married for 56 years. Born in Everett, MA, he was the son of the late George and Pauline (Gallo) Grandolfi. During his career, Mr. Grandolfi spent over 25 years as a supervisor in the shipping department at Electric Boat at Groton, CT and Quonset Point, RI. For many years, he was also a volunteer firefighter in the Peace Dale Fire Department. Mr. Grandolfi served in World War II aboard the U.S.S. Philadelphia as a radar technician, after which he owned and operated George’s Radio and Television shop in Peace Dale. After retirement, Mr. Grandolfi worked at several sporting events for the University of Rhode Island Athletic Department and part-time at the Pt. Judith Country Club snack shop. He enjoyed watching all types of sports and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Mr. Grandolfi often enjoyed visiting with friends at Old Mountain Lanes in Peace Dale. He was a member of Christ the King Church. Besides his wife he leaves, three sons, George P. Grandolfi of North Attleboro, MA, Peter J. Grandolfi and Steven M. Grandolfi both of Wakefield; a daughter, Paula Cascario of Vernon, CT and seven grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Jennie De Salvo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Rd., Kingston. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours will be held Friday 5-8 PM at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ the King Church, Kingston, RI.
