George A. Eddy

George A. Eddy, 77, of Charlestown, died Monday, September 5th, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Edith “Edie” (Burdick) Eddy. Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Edwin and Rose (Robinson) Eddy. Mr. Eddy has been employed at URI for 26 years, working in the Athletics Dept. He was an avid NY Yankees Fan and enjoyed bowling at Old Mountain Lanes in Wakefield He is survived by his four children, Rosemary McKiernan of West Warwick, Maureen Barnes of Charlestown, Georgia Hunnicutt of West Warwick, George Eddy of Florida; seven grandchildren, Peter, John, Linda, Shawn, Nicole, Toni, and Kellie; and two great-grandchldren, Colton and Jayden. He was predeceased by his brother, Jimmy; a grandson, Jamie; and Grandma Penn and Grandpa Jack Penn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday at 9 AM at St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Road, Charlestown. Burial with military honors will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Friday 4-7 PM.
