George Edward Benford

George E Benford, 82, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. He was the son of the late Doris (Knott) Benford. George was a U.S. Navy veteran; retired from AT&T after 30 years as an Operations Manager and later T-Mobile Supervisor. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; his children: Stephen Benford of MA, Scott Benford of RI and Stacey Oshberg of NH; his stepchildren: Jeremy Bliven and Jennifer Fox of RI, and Daniel Bliven of CA; his brother Al Benford of CT and sisters, Alice Bray of MA and Helen Benford of NYC. He has four grandchildren; Michaela, Andrew and David, and was predeceased by his grand daughter Abbie in 2013. His six step-grandchildren; Abigail, Aria, Braden, Elijah, Alana and Benjamin. George was a die-hard Red Sox fan; enjoyed cooking, music, traveling, reading and coaching baseball. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him! In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice of Care New England, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 10am to 11am at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI 02879; followed by a funeral service at 11am. Burial will take place at 1pm at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI.
