Genevieve C. Gardner

Genevieve C. Gardner, 92, a resident of South Kingstown since the early 1950’s, died Tuesday, December 23, 2014. She is survived by her children Scott C. Gardner, Ross C. Gardner, his wife Shuman and a granddaughter, all of South Kingstown. Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert V. Gardner, brother Dr. Thomas Chiffelle, and sisters, Reverend Catherine Chiffelle and Ethel Patterson. Mrs. Gardner graduated from Meredith College and Columbia University. She first taught physical education in Hartford before accepting a teaching position at The University of Rhode Island where she worked until the late 1970’s. Mrs. Gardner’s services were private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Women’s Resource Center of South County, 61 Main St., Wakefield, RI.
