Gary P. Gray, 60, of South Kingstown, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019. He was he son of the late Hugh Gray of South Kingstown and the late Eleanor (Tyrrel) Gray. Gary leaves behind two sisters, Cheryl (Gray) Swensen of Narragansett and Karen (Gray) Duey of South Kingstown. He also leaves behind two nieces, Felicia (Walker) Lospaluto and Sarah Swensen; two nephews, Zachary Walker and Cody Walker, and three great nephews, Noah, Owen, and Eli Lospaluto. Gary started his journey toward becoming a commercial fisherman at age 14, when he began unloading fish from the boats in Pt. Judith. He was instantly swept into the world of commercial fishing, following in his fathers footsteps. He quickly moved up in the ranks and received his Captains license and was able to run several boats, such as Rebecca Mary, Maxine Grace, The Kaitlin, and The Atlantic Prince, and the dragger he built, F/V "Small Time". In recent years, Gary was often heard saying, "Fishing was my love, and being out at sea made me feel at peace." Rest in Peace Gary. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at 1:00 pm at the South Kingstown Elks Club, 60 Belmont Ave., in Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pt. Judith Fishermans Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 3315, Narragansett, RI 02882.
