Gary T. Boden

Gary Thomas Boden, 68, of Exeter, passed away Tuesday, July 7th. He was the beloved husband of Gayle L. Frederick-Boden Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Herbert H., Jr. and Carolyn (Strealdorf) Boden. Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter Katherine L. Boden of Exeter; a sister Carol M. Mania and her husband Philip of South Kingstown; a niece Jessica Briody and her husband Andy, and their children Cali, Jayden, Kendall, Keagan and Christian; and a nephew J. Brett Eves. Gary was a graduate of Cranston High School East in 1970, earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1974, and received his Master’s degree from Cornell University in 1977. He has been employed at the University of Rhode Island since 1977 in several positions: Marine Research Specialist at the Graduate School of Oceanography, working on the CLIMAP and SPECMAP paleoclimate projects, Programmer/Analyst in the Office of Management Information Services, and most recently Senior Information Technologist in the Office of Institutional Research. Service was a major component of Gary’s life and he worked as Secretary on the Board of Helping Haiti’s Orphans, Vice President of the Exeter Historical Association, and Head Usher and Member at New Hope Chapel. He was also an Eagle Scout, and enjoyed fly-fishing, woodworking, painting and photography. Visiting hours will be held at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Monday, July 13th, from 4-7 pm. A memorial service honoring his life will be held at a later date at New Hope Chapel, Richmond.
