Gail E. Ambrose (Ensign), 79, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children. She was the beloved wife of the late John E. Ambrose for 55 years. Born in Providence, daughter to the late Carlton P. and Catherine L. Ensign (Hahn), she was a resident of South County for 35 years. She is survived by her son John D. Ambrose of Island Lake, IL; her daughters Carol Walter and her husband James of Jupiter, FL; and Elisa Turlo and her husband Peter of West Greenwich; granddaughters Angela Ambrose, Janelle & Stacey Walter, and great grandson Joseph Aurience; sisters Judith Loven and her husband John of Hope; and Kay Blain of Danielson, CT; brother in law David Ambrose and his wife Claudia of Vergennes, VT; and many nieces and nephews. Gail was an accomplished painter, former member of the Wickford Art Assoc. and exhibitor at the Narragansett and Westerly Art Shows. She loved vegetable and flower gardening, bird watching and nature. She was a 1952 graduate of Cranston High School. Calling hours will be held at Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Tuesday, from 5-7 pm. Funeral service will be private at the request of the family.
