Fsc Brother Robert J. Daszkiewicz

Brother Robert J. Daszkiewicz, FSC, 71, of Christian Brothers Center, Narragansett RI, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at South County Hospital after being a resident at South Kingstown Nursing Center for a short time. Brother Robert was born in Providence, RI on February 23, 1938, son of Catherine M. and Bronislaw J. Daszkiewicz. He was the brother of John R. Daszkiewicz of North Kingstown, RI. Brother Robert leaves three nephews, a niece and their families. Brother Robert entered the Brothers of the Christian Schools at Barrytown, NY in 1956 and received the religious habit in September of that year. He pronounced his final vows in l964. Brother Robert received a BA in French from Catholic University in 1961. He earned an MA degree in French Literature and Linguistics at Assumption College in 1967 and did other graduate work in Educational Administration. Brother Robert began his teaching career in high schools in Brooklyn, at St Augustine’s and Mater Christi, as well as in New Hampshire and Connecticut, at Trinity and St Bernard. He also ministered at Salve Regina University in Newport in several capacities, as well as at The University of Bethlehem in Palestine. Abroad, he also served at the Motherhouse of the Christian Brothers in Rome, and in Belgium and in France as well. He was the director of a High School Exchange Program, and the director of two teaching improvement programs in Newport, RI and in Palestine. Brother Robert also ran Bright Day Travel for the Christian Brothers in California. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 10:00am at Our Lady of the Star Chapel, Christian Brothers Center, 635 Ocean Road, Narragansett, RI. Burial will be in the Brothers’ Cemetery on the Center grounds. Visiting hours will be Friday from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at the Christian Brothers Center.
