Fsc Brother Michael O'Neill

Brother Michael O'Neill, FSC, 90, of De La Salle Hall, Lincroft, NJ died peacefully on Thursday, October 21 at the age of 89. Brother Michael was born in Manhattan, NY and graduated from Holy Name School in 1935. He attended LaSalle Academy and entered the Novitiate of the De La Salle Christian Brothers in 1939, receiving the name of Brother Brendan Michael. Brother took his perpetual vows on July 20, 1946 in Barrytown NY. Brother Michael had a BS degree in Physics from Catholic University, a MA degree in Mathematics from Manhattan College and a MS degree in Physics from Union College. Brother Michael began his teaching career at LaSalle Institute in Troy, NY. He was also a prefect at Lincoln Hall in Lincolndale, NY and then taught in Detroit, MI and at St Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, RI and at De LaSalle in Newport, RI. Brother Michael had two separate assignments at Bishop Loughlin MHS in Brooklyn, NY, adding up to 40 years of ministry. He retired in 1995 in Narragansett, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 4:30pm at Our Lady of the Star Chapel, Christian Brothers Center, 635 Ocean Road, Narragansett, RI. A Viewing will be held in the Chapel from 3 – 4:30pm. Burial will follow the Mass in the Brothers’ Cemetery.
