Brother Edward McKenery, FSC, 78 of the De La Salle Hall Community, Lincroft, New Jersey, died on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Born in Providence, RI on November 6, 1935, son of the late James E. and Fermina (Silvio) McKenery. He is the brother of Brother Michael McKenery, FSC of Narragansett, RI and Veronica Broomhead of West Warwick, RI. He entered the Brothers of the Christian Schools at Skaneateles, NY in 1981 and received the Religious Habit in Narragansett, RI in August of 1982. He pronounced his Perpetual Vows in August of 1987 at Christian Brothers Center in Narragansett. Brother Edward studied education at Providence College, received an R.N. degree from the Pawtucket Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, a B.S. degree in Health Services Administration from St. Joseph’s College, and an M.A. in Human Development from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. Brother Edward began teaching at La Salle Military Academy Oakdale, NY in 1979. He served at La Salle Academy, Providence, RI, De La Salle Institute, Chicago, IL, St. Mary’s University of Minnesota and a few healthcare facilities with his background in Health Services Administration. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, corner of Academy Avenue and Regent Avenue. Burial will be in the Brothers’ Cemetery at Christian Brothers Center, Narragansett, RI approximately 12:00 Noon. Visiting hours will be at the La Salle Academy Chapel in the Brothers’ Residence on Thursday, October 16, 2014 from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 8:00pm.
