Frank Louis Wildenhain

March 20, 1927 — July 21, 2010

Frank Louis Wildenhain, 83, of Green Hill, died suddenly at home on Wednesday, July 21st. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Conroy) Wildenhain for 56 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Frank W. and Mabel (Rounds) Wildenhain. He was a graduate of Hope High School and the Progressive School of Photography at Yale University. He was a noted News Photographer for WJAR Channel 10 for 36 years before retiring in 1990 and distinguished himself as the recipient of two Emmy Awards for his news film footage. He was a member and past President of the Rhode Island News Photographers Association. He was also a member of the Green Hill Beach Club, Navy League of Rhode Island, Westerly Yacht Club, Green Hill Civic Association, and the I.B.E.W. Throughout his life, he was an avid historian and a proud descendant of several Mayflower ancestors and member of The Society of Colonial Wars of Rhode Island. His family and friends were his greatest joy and he always had an entertaining and enlightening story to tell them. Besides his wife, he is survived by a devoted daughter, Dale P. Wildenhain of East Greenwich; two cherished grandsons, Patrick and David Norton; and two nieces, Donna Kershaw and Beth Kershaw Shirley. He was the brother of the late M. Elizabeth Kershaw. The funeral will be held at 8:45 AM Monday from the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Road, Charlestown. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale. Visiting hours are Sunday 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James Food Pantry / RICAN, PO Box 476, Charlestown, RI 02813.
