Frank M. Fry

d. December 6, 2015

Frank M. Fry of Wakefield, RI (formerly Garrett Hill, PA) died on December 6, 2015 at home with a smile on his face because his Eagles had just beaten the Patriots. Frank was born in Philadelphia destined for a career with cars, somehow getting his driver’s license when he was 14 years old. A Captain for the Roman Catholic Cahillites football team, he had to decline a University of Miami scholarship because of a silly heart murmur. But his smooth-talking helped ensure his success in selling cars for most of his life, especially to his most important customer, Maryann. She came in to buy a car, but ended up signing on for 47 years of adventure-filled marriage with Frank. His real passion was the sea. There were several trips on his various boats from Westville, with a night stopover at Brandywine Lighthouse en route to Sea Isle City, NJ. That was a perfect spot to provide a family summer home-on-the-water and go find the prime crabbing spots. And, if a problem arose, he was able to fix or “mickey” just about anything. Other trips were to the Florida Keys, his favorite rock jetty in Fort Lauderdale and enjoying the last 3 years exploring some new spots in the Ocean State, like Galilee. A charmer, with the gift of gab, he always had something to say to put a smile on your face. In addition to Maryann (nee Calicyo), he is survived by his son, Michael, and his daughter Tyra Ann and Marc Lamson. He enjoyed spending time on the water with his grandsons Luke and Lee Lamson and cheering for them on the basketball court. Contributions may be made in his memory to Roman Catholic High School Alumni, 301 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
