Francis M. Dubois, 94, formerly of Coventry RI passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 10, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 63 years of the late Therese L. (Laquerre) Dubois. Born in Woonsocket, RI on Jully 11, 1930, he was the son of Alphonse and Cora (Harpin) Dubois. He was the loving father of Richard and his wife Jessica of Wakefield, RI and Diane Pereira and her husband David of Richmond, RI. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Melissa, Matthew, Erin, Jonathan, Shannon, and Bridgette. He also leaves behind his great-grandson Samuel who was born on his 94th birthday. Francis was a Korean War veteran who proudly served his country. He worked as a Quality Control Technician for 30 years at Northrop Corporation in Norwood, Massachusetts. He was pivotal in the manufacturing process of gyros that were used in the Apollo 11 Lunar spaceship that landed on the moon.
Playing golf was a passion of his. Francis worked at perfecting his game and won several tournaments. Upon retirement, he and his wife Therese moved to Hernando, Florida where he could enjoy the sport he loved year round.
Once the grandchildren came onto the scene, Francis and Therese decided they had their “fun in the sun” and moved back to RI to be with their growing family. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to fish and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family, and we will forever keep him in our hearts.
A private memorial service will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in South Kingstown, RI. A burial with military honors will follow at Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
