Beloved mother, grandmother, and friend

Frances M. Wong, 80, of Narragansett, Rhode Island, passed away on January 4, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 7, 1944, Frances dedicated her life to her family and friends.

Frances is survived by her son Christopher Paul Wong, his wife Kerri, her daughter Jean Marie Wong, her grandchildren Abygail Luna and her husband Michael, Alec Wong and his wife Cassidy, Adam Wong, Nicholas Jewett, Casey Cormier, and Brady Cormier. She was a loving great-grandmother to Sawyer Wong and eagerly awaited the arrival of Sawyer’s soon-to-be sister. She also was like a second mother to Chi Ko Wong and Ann Wong.

She was a registered nurse in Brooklyn, New York before moving to Pomfret, CT where she raised her children and lived for 30+ years. During that time, she regularly drove to Rhode Island to play tennis with friends, fostering a lifelong connection to the area. Fran always wanted to move close to the sea, which prompted her to move to Rhode Island where she spent the last 20+ years of her life.

For Fran, family was everything. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally, celebrating their triumphs and offering support during life’s challenges, attending special events, sending care packages of homemade baked goods, and everything in between. Fran was always available to listen, babysit and provide support whenever needed. She made sure her family felt her unwavering love, and they loved her deeply in return.

Her friends were equally important to her, becoming an extension of her family. Frances valued her relationships immensely and delighted in spending time with friends at church, on the tennis court or golf course, playing cards, or simply sharing a meal. She maintained cherished connections with groups from Pomfret, tennis, golf, church, and her neighborhood, filling her life with joy and laughter.

Frances’ warmth, generosity, and dedication to her loved ones will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Visitation for Fran will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 4 –6 pm in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, RI, 02879. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 10 am in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett, RI.
