Fenton A. Whitlow

April 4, 1953 — June 28, 2022

Captain Fenton Anton Whitlow, Sr., 69, was called back to sea on June 28, 2022 to follow the stars to his final destination. The proud father of two young men, Fenton Anton, Jr. and Ethan Grant, was cared for by his family and former wives/caregivers, Julie Whitlow and Lynn Vesce. Throughout his illness, his family cherished the moments of happiness and joy that they shared. Captain Fenton honored his country as a veteran in the United States Navy and continued to foster his love of the ocean as a Merchant Marine for over 45 years. Among his many accomplishments, Fenton received a Bachelor of Science (Oceanography) from the State University of New York Maritime College at Fort Schuyler and later earned the Master Unlimited Oceans (National) credential. He spent many years navigating the waters of the world pursuing his love of the ocean. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Hawley, brother-in-law, Jack Kress, cousin, Steven Scheinpflug, and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Kress, his nephew, Sean Michael Kress and his parents: Fenton Harold and Elizabeth Whitlow. Fenton left behind many beloved friends who will forever be his family. His close friends: Fred and Cynthia Weber, Shawn Moffitt, Ray Gemma, and George Sevcik.
