Ethel V. Bealy Westcott

Ethel V. “Bealy” Westcott, 73, of Wakefield, died Saturday. She was the beloved wife of Herbert B. Westcott for 53 years. Born in South Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen (Gavitt) Briggs. Mrs. Westcott was a Rural Letter Carrier for 30 years for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, making quilts, cooking, especially jelly and her special pies. Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Debra Westcott of Exeter, Tammy Loffredo and her husband Albert of Narragansett, and Carline Shields and her husband Randy of Wakefield; six grandchildren, Kenneth and Amy Shields, Jeffrey, Christopher and Mackenzie Loffredo, and Timothy Westcott; three brothers, James Briggs of South Kingstown, George Briggs of Warwick and Robert Briggs of South Kingstown; and two sisters, Helen Frye and Theresa Frisella, both of South Kingstown. She was the sister of the late John Briggs, Jr. Visiting hours will be at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Monday, 5-8 PM. A graveside service will be 10 AM Tuesday at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
