Obituary

Ernest J. Willett Sr., 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 1st leaving behind a legacy of hard work, music, adventure, and unwavering devotion to his family.

Born in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, on January 8, 1933, Ernie was the son of the late Ernest and Eleanor (Stroud) Willett. A lifelong Rhode Island resident, he dedicated nearly 40 years of service to the South Kingstown School Department, where he served as Superintendent of Maintenance. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect of colleagues and friends through his dedication and strong work ethic.

Outside of his career, Ernie embraced life with enthusiasm. He had a deep love for playing the guitar and singing, and found great joy performing with the Hayloft Jamboree, sharing his passion for music with others. He also enjoyed the outdoors and loved the challenge and beauty of mountain climbing, always seeking new adventures.

Ernie was predeceased by his beloved wives, Ruth (Barker) Willett and Janice (Brown) Willett. He was also preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Beth Murray, and his siblings, Bernice, Eleanor, and George.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, including his daughters, Lynn Kindstedt and Ann Fenner and her husband Charles; his son, Ernest J. Willett Jr.; his brother, William Willett; stepchildren, Jill Montaquila, Jane Bugbee and Howard Bugbee, Jr. as well as many beloved grandchildren, step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9th from 4-6 PM in Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield, RI. Burial will private.
