Erling Hugh Neilsen

Erling Hugh Neilsen, 87, of Narragansett, passed away unexpectedly at home Friday, July 10, 2015. He was the husband of Eloise (Springthorpe) Neilsen for 61 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Erling G.S Neilsen and Anne (Collins) Neilsen. Mr. Neilsen was a US Navy Veteran. He was a salesman for General Fittings Company for over 20 years and a customer service manager for Amtrol for over 20 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Peter’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, a Past Master of King Solomon’s Lodge #11 East Greenwich, Hope Lodge #25 and a 50 year Masonic member. He was also a member of the Swords of Bunker Hill, Past Dad Advisor of East Greenwich Rainbow Assembly #4, and a Drum Sergeant for Rhode Island Highlanders Pipe Band. Besides his wife he leaves his daughters, Deborah Kane of Narragansett, Pamela Johnson of Scituate, MA, Barbara Bird of Jamestown, and his son John Neilsen of South Kingstown. He was the grandfather of Jennifer Kubrynski, Jonathan Bird, Meghan Kane, Geoffrey and Stephanie Johnson, John Neilsen Jr., Nicholas and Lauren Neilsen and great grandfather of Alexander Kubrynski and Skylar Swanson and the late Braxton Kane Swanson. He was the brother of the late Beverly Anderson and Raymond Neilsen. A memorial Service will be held at St. Peters by the Sea Episcopal Church, 72 Central Street, Narragansett, at a date to be announced. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
