Erika Schmidt-Decesaris

Erika Schmidt Decesaris, age 101, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024. She was born on Karlsruhe, Germany on January 11, 1923, moving to the US and settling in North Providence, RI. She was the daughter of Karoline (Schlotzer) and Otto Schmidt.

Erika lived a full and active life enjoying gardening, swimming, cooking, art and bike riding. She loved to travel, visiting over 30 countries in her lifetime. She worked as a medical librarian at Butler Hospital for many years before retirement. Erika was a lifelong learner who was always passionate, living life to the fullest.

Erika was the beloved wife of James Decesaris. She leaves behind sister, Caroline (Sue) Derita and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the many caring and supportive family, friends, and care givers that have supported her throughout her life.
