Emory W. Duke Phillips

Emory “Duke” W. Phillips, 81, of South Kingstown, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014. He was the husband of Mary (Treble) Phillips for forty six years. Born in Jamestown, he was the son of the late Emory L. and Mary Rose (Theroux) Phillips. Mr. Phillips served as a paratrooper in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a civil engineer for many years retiring in 1988. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the American Legion and past president of Jamestown Country Club. He was the father of Charlene Briggs of Charlestown; grandfather of Logan & Colby Briggs brother of Irene McKee of FL, Blanche “Dot” Reynolds of NM and the late Lillian Reha, Larry Phillips, Arthur Phillips, Beatrice Dunphy, Thelma Cochran and Bertha Phillips. Visiting hours will be at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, Wednesday, 9:30 – 10:30 am followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am. Burial with military honors will be in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Home & Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
