Emma Tavares

Emma Tavares, 96, of Richmond, died Thursday. She was The beloved wife of the late Francisco “Frank” Tavares. Born in Fall River, MA, she was a daughter of the late Antone V. and Mary Ellen (Medeiros) Mello. Mrs. Tavares was the Owner of Towne Beauty Salon in Seekonk, MA for many years before retiring. She is a former resident of Carefree Cove in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Shady Acres Nursing Home for all of the care and compassion shown to Emma, during her stay there for the past 7 years. She is survived by her Goddaughter, Alice Smith and her husband David of Richmond, and their children Jason Smith, Jennifer Cleary, and Jonathan Smith. She was the sister of the late Antone Mello, Mary Rodrigues, Joseph Mello Rose Silvia, Palmeda Chew, and Alice Tavares. Visiting hours are at the Avery-Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia Street, Wakefield, RI, Monday, 9:30 - 10:30 am., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Burial will take place in Florida.
