Elvera Dame

June 8, 1941 — February 18, 2022

Elvera Mae Dame (Goehner) walked peacefully into the arms of Jesus on February 18, 2022. She was the loving mother of 4, who joined her husband Larry on what would have been their 55th wedding anniversary. She was born on the 8th of June in 1941 in Leavenworth, Washington to the late John & Esther Goehner. She grew up in the “very” small town of Dryden with her older brother, younger sister, 9 aunts & uncles and 36 cousins. Elvera was influenced by her faith and family to be a loving, devoted, generous, kind and compassionate women. Following high school graduation, she attended Wenatchee Valley College and Multnomah School of the Bible. After graduating, she moved to Ventura, California, worked for Texaco and met the love of her life, a young Navy sailor. A couple years later they moved to Rhode Island where Larry grew up. Soon after that, the family began to grow, she became a stay at home mom, until she needed to go back to work to help support the family. She was involved in discipling women, playing the piano, singing in the choir and serving in any area needed in the church. She also was involved with Christian Women’s Club and was in a local bowling league. She was always there for her children in whatever activities they were involved in. In 1996 her beloved Larry was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She faithfully served and cared for him for a year before the Lord took him home. Anyone she talked with knew all about her children and grandchildren and how much she loved being a “Meme”. Somehow she knew the birthdays and wedding anniversaries of all her family, friends and really almost anyone she met. She loved the snow so much, but in 2018 she moved to Florida (where she said she would never live) and became a snow bird. She loved watching her grandchildren swim in the pool and even joined them sometimes. In 2018 she was diagnosed with cancer and her family watched her walk faithfully trusting the Lord. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Elvera is survived by her son Harold L. Dame III of North Kingston RI, Kimberly L. Carter of Santiago Chile, Jeremy J. Dame of Land O Lakes FL, Kristy L. Morrow of Delano MN, 13 grandchildren, and sister Eldora Meggs of Yorba Linda, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Dame Jr. and her brother Don Goehner. Calling hours will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm at Avery-Storti Funeral Home on March 1st.
