Ellison Myers Sonny Brown

Ellison M. Brown, Jr. "Sonny", 80, of Charlestown, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018. He was the husband of Jeanne Marie (Cogswell) Brown for 53 years. Born in Alton, a son of the late two time Boston Marathon Champion, Ellison M. "Tarzan" Brown, and Ethel Mae (Wilcox) Brown. Mr. Brown was a mason for many years, his work can be found throughout New England, he was a true artisan. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran; a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, whose favorite past time was spending time with his beloved family; attending Pow Wows throughout the east coast, shell fishing; hosting cookouts and making lasting memories along the way. Mr. Brown was a patriarch to all the Brown families. He will be greatly missed. "To be sure". Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Ellison M. Brown, III, Gina Brown Simmons and Henry Brown, Sr. of Arizona, Meloni Ann Brown of Charlestown, Theodore Pahiea Ellison Brown of Westerly and Lisa Marie Brown of East Providence; a brother, Norman "Thunderbolt" Brown of Charlestown; twenty one grandchildren; many Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ethel M. Brown and Marlene Brown Monroe. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 11 am, in the Narragansett Indian Tribe Longhouse, 4425 South County Trail, Charlestown, RI. Burial will be private.
