Elizabeth H. Shields

Elizabeth H. Shields, 97, of South Kingstown, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014. She was the wife of William Shields. Born in Mary D, PA, she was the daughter of the late George and Susan Ondayko. Mrs. Shields worked as a nurse's aide during WWII, a teacher’s aide, bookkeeper and travel agent in Ardsley, NY. She was a longtime member and deacon of the Cross Mills Baptist Church and a member of the local garden club. She loved gardening, nature, the outdoors and spending time with her family. Besides her husband she leaves a son Dave Shields and his wife Deborah of GA; a daughter Susie Suben and her husband Rick of New City, NY; grandchildren, Craig Shields and his wife Melissa, Michael Suben and his wife Carrie, Jen Suben, Lauri Moyer and her husband Joe, six great grandchildren Melanie, Aiden, Adele, Ethan, Kailei, Mitchell and two nieces Marion Speer and her family and Suzanne Godleski. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cross Mills Baptist Church, 4403 Old Post Rd., Charlestown. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in the name of Elizabeth Shields may be made to Cross Mills Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1165, Charlestown, RI 02813.
