Elizabeth "Betty" S. Schiedler died peacefully at home on May 21, surrounded by her loving husband, children, and daughter in law. She was the beloved wife of Robert J. Schiedler. Born in her home in Wallingford, CT, Betty graduated from Lyman Hall High School. She eventually relocated to Ithaca, NY following her marriage to Allan W. Ahlberg. After relocating to Barrington, RI, Betty worked as the administrative assistant to the Town Manager of Barrington. Betty played a critical financial role administering the town-wide Sanitary Sewer Construction Program for that town. Following her marriage to Bob Schiedler, Betty relocated to Charlestown, where she was very active as a Board Member of the Charlestown Senior Center Association. While volunteering at the Senior Center, she became acquainted with mah jongg and became an avid player. She was a member of the Peace Dale Congregational Church. Above all, Betty relished her role as a grandmother and helped raised her four grandchildren whom she adored. She was a regular fixture at their swim meets from their childhood years up through college. Betty is survived by her son Alan Ahlberg, his wife Peggy, and their children Andrew, Matthew, Joseph, and Sarah Ahlberg of Glastonbury, CT; her son Eric Ahlberg, and her daughter Amy Johanna Ahlberg. Betty also leaves a brother, Robert Stak of Killingworth, CT, his wife Josie, and their three children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Bettys love of plants and wildlife reflected her gentle and compassionate spirit. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. A private burial at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter is planned.
