Elizabeth A. Betty Genest

Elizabeth (Betty) A Genest, 76 passed away on May 31, 2017 at home in North Kingstown. She was the wife of Roger O Genest. They shared 54 loving years together. Born in Providence, R.I., she was the daughter of the late John and Alice Pyne (Conlan). She was a graduate of St. Xavier Academy in Providence. After spending 18 years as a homemaker and mother of three sons, she had a career at MetLife Insurance in Overseas Operations retiring in 1999. She was very active member of Christ the King Church, Kingston, serving on the Social Action Committee and as a Eucharistic Minister. She was an advocate for battered women. Betty was also a long-term volunteer at South County Hospital. Prior to her activity after retirement she enjoyed going to all of the sporting events that her “boys” played. In retirement, she enjoyed the games and functions of her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband and her sons, Mark C Genest and his wife Jennifer (Hatch) of Saco ME, Matthew T Genest and his wife Bonnie (Powell) of Cheshire CT, and Kevin J Genest and his wife Kathryn (Doyle) of West Warwick. She has three grandsons Ryan Genest, Cameron Genest, Christopher Genest and a granddaughter Cara Genest. She also is survived by two brothers John Pyne and his wife Janet of North Kingstown, Thomas Pyne and his wife Sharon of North Kingstown and two sisters Joan Johnson of Narragansett and Patricia Pyne of Cranston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Church, 180 Old North Rd., Kingston on Monday June 5th, at 10:00 am. Visiting hours will be held at the Avery Storti Funeral Home, 88 Columbia St., Wakefield from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday June 4th.
